Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor asks Nintendo to release Pokemon GO in Brazil

With Pokemon GO sweeping the world off of it's feet (literally, no one is looking where they are walking), there are a couple countries feeling the burn of being left out, like Brazil. Well, Rio de Janeiro's Mayor, Eduardo Paes, is taking that problem into his own hands. Paes sent a should out on Facebook (via NeoGaf) to Nintendo, asking for the game to be released in Brazil.

Alô, Nintendo! Faltam 23 dias para as Olimpíadas Rio 2016. O mundo todo tá vindo pra cá. Venha também!

Translation (translated by me):

Hey, Nintendo! There's 23 days to go until the 2016 Rio Olympics. The whole world is coming here. [You] Come too!

Of course, while plenty of people are happy with their Mayor for considering their love for Pokemon, not everyone saw the post with such levity. There are a number of issues in Brazil and one of the biggest issues is the most pictured of all – the Olympics (you know, other than the huge issues with the government). Residents in Brazil aren't too excited about the 2016 Olympics coming to Rio because the city is essentially "hiding their poor" to make room for the event.

In Paes' post, you see a number of Pokemon (most of which have escaped me in Pokemon GO).

The last picture says "These are not Pokemons."

The question is, will Pokemon GO hit Brazil's streets?
