Wait, what? Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't coming to PlayStation platforms? During today's Xbox press briefing at gamescom, Crystal Dynamics head of product development Darrell Gallagher announced that the sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot will be coming in holiday 2015 "exclusively on Xbox." I'm assuming this means both Xbox One and Xbox 360, though it was never clarified.
Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider reboot originally came out on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and later on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the form of the Definitive Edition.
Interestingly, when Tomb Raider first launched, Square Enix described it as having "weak sales." Despite the fact that 3.4 million copies were sold around launch (not including digital), it wasn't up to par with Square Enix's lofty expectations of five to six million. Turns out the game just needed a bit of time as Square Enix announced in March that sales surpassed six million. As an Xbox exclusive, I have a hard time believing it'll achieve these similar results.
Of course, maybe there's the chance that Rise of the Tomb Raider is just a timed exclusive. That seems to be popular this generation.
