Robin Hood origin film gets its release date pushed back

Lionsgate has announced that their upcoming Taron Egerton-led Robin Hood origin film won't be making its March, 23rd 2018 release date and has been pushed back six months. The film will now release in theaters and IMAX on September 21st, 2018 as reported by THR, which launches on the same date as Jack Black's Goosebumps 2.

The film stars Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as Robin of Loxley, Jaime Foxx as Little John, Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey) as Will Scarlett and Eve Hewson (Bridge of Spies) as Maid Marian. Otto Bathurst (Netflix's Black Mirror) is on tap to direct with Leonardo DiCaprio serving as a Producer.

Not many concrete details are known about the Robin Hood origin film outside of the fact that it will take place before the character becomes the legendary outlaw. It will supposedly detail some of Robin's time in The Crusades before returning home to Nottingham Forest to find it taken over by greed and corruption.

The last Robin Hood movie that came out was all the way back in 2010 with Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott's forgettable adaptation back in 2010. Hopefully, things will turn out better this time around.
