Rockstar confirms GTA Online will get more massive updates in 2017

Despite Rockstar gearing up to release the long-awaited Red Dead Redemption 2, the team has announced that their massively popular crime game, Grand Theft Auto V, will continue to get multiplayer updates. For the last 3+ years, Rockstar has released regular content updates for Grand Theft Auto Online which adds weapons, cars, clothes, game modes, and major missions like heists.

It seemed like these updates were going to cease in 2017 so Rockstar could focus on Red Dead Redemption 2, but Rockstar has confirmed that there will be several updates coming until at least summer 2017.

In March, Rockstar will drop new stunt races designed for the Rocket Voltic, the Ruiner 2000 and the Blazer Aqua vehicles. Map creators will also be given tools to make new races specified for these extraordinary cars!

Later on, Rockstar will add a new dodgeball-esque mode called Resurrection and a 2D, top-down explosive mode which serves as a throwback to the original Grand Theft Auto games before the PlayStation 2 era. In addition to that, they well add several new cars including some from previous Grand Theft Auto games like GTA 3.

Finally, they revealed that there will be more major content updates that bring things like gunrunning, weaponized vehicles, and more. These updates will come in the spring/summer.

"Stock up and bunker down as you take on the craziest militias across the state of San Andreas in another massive update for GTA Online. Featuring brand new weaponized vehicles and exciting new missions, get ready to fight for supremacy in the illegal arms trade and wage war with the latest in high-powered military hardware."

Rockstar also mentioned that you have until March 7th to transfer your Xbox 360/PS3 GTA Online characters to Xbox One/PS4/PC. If you don't transfer by then, you will never be able to carry your previous progress over.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 will drop sometime in the fall of 2017.
