Rockstar today pushed a new update for the PC port of Red Dead Redemption 2. The long-awaited arrival of RDR2 by PC gamers had a rough landing for some users who either experienced issues with the developer’s new Rockstar Games Launcher and the game itself. With a few days before the game launches on Steam, Rockstar is now proudly claiming that the majority of issues have been ironed out.
When Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in early November for PCs, reports of users not being able to launch the game or encountering frequent crashes quickly swept messaging boards and became the topic of many YouTubers. Unlike these users, we were part of the large majority who experienced a crash-free time right from the start. And despite technical issues for some, we felt that RDR2 on PC is the best way to play Rockstar’s Wild West epic. Whether it’s the option to tune the experience to your liking, mouse control, +60fps gameplay or visuals that stand above the already impressive console versions, the PC once again manages to be the definitive edition.
Still, many gamers had a troubled launch and Rockstar has been hard at work improving the technical state for them with various large updates ever since. Today, pretty much one month after the launch, Rockstar has issued the next large update and states that the majority of issues have been resolved. The timing couldn’t be better with Red Dead Redemption 2 soon coming out on Steam on December 5th after a one-month excludivity period on the Epic Games Store.
Even better, Rockstar is handing out a free Care Package for every Red Dead Online player starting from launch throughout the holiday season. Here’s what players will get.
All Red Dead Online PC players will receive the finely detailed Prieto Poncho, available for free in the Camp Wardrobe or at any clothing store. Wheeler, Rawson & Co. will also supply a curated care package of items to help players survive out on the open range:
