A "reputable source" has informed Gamespot that Electronic Arts has secured the rights to a sequel for Respawn Entertainment's multiplayer shooter, Titanfall.
According to the report, the potential for a sequel was based on Titanfall's performance. Although official sales data have yet to be published, it is believed that Titanfall has performed extremely well. Earlier this week, we heard reports that Titanfall led to a 96 percent increase in Xbox One hardware sales in the UK, while becoming the market's biggest game release of 2014.
Titanfall is currently available for Xbox One and PC only, though it's also coming to Xbox 360 (delayed again). It's unclear if a sequel could make its way to other platforms, but back in October of last year Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella — confirming Titanfall's Xbox console exclusivity — also suggested that any future series installments could be released on other consoles as well.
Ultimately, though, that'll be a decision for EA to make.
