Rumor: For Honor will require you to have an internet connection at all times

That's not gonna go over well with everyone

Having games be always online is always a split topic. On the one hand, a convenient connection to the internet is a lot more common than it has ever been; but then again, not all of those connections are stable and dropping out can be equally common. Since not everyone wants to run a 100 ft ethernet cord from their router to their console or PC, it can end up being something of a debate. It looks like Ubisoft might be prepping to take that PR risk and go fully online with their upcoming historical melee combat game, For Honor, according to famed Twitter presence Wario 64.

But this is still a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.

Here's the tweet.

As you can see from the image, For Honor will apparently require the internet connection. The multiplayer component of the game is (obviously) a no-brainer, but given that we know the game has a single player campaign, it seems odd to require the connection at all times.

This is also in contrast to what Ubisoft told Gamespot back in September when they were talking in-depth about For Honor's Single Player campaign. They said:

"We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It’s intended to be a full experience.”

Then again, it's possible that the tag could just be referring to the multiplayer component, but as of right now there's no way to know. For Honor releases next year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 14th, 2017.
