Rumor: PS4 update 3.0 currently in beta

It looks as though the next PlayStation 4 update will be bringing a number of features, some of which of we had asked for and others that have left some users wanting. Japanese gaming site PocketGamer has detailed the upcoming update and no, it doesn't include a way to change your PlayStation Network ID, folders or Pins/Bookmarks for apps.

Update 3.0 is coming about five months after the Yakimura update that brought around a number of new features — putting the timing of the PS4 updates about six months apart since launch. If 3.0 isn't bringing the features you want, you can always wait another six months.

According to update 3.0 will bring the following:

Main Points

  • [Events] will be added to the main menu, it will inform you of upcoming PlayStation-related events.

  • [Community] will be added to the [Friends] menu, this feature will allow you to create a new community or join an existing one.

  • [Now Playing] will allow users will see a list of what their friends or Community Members are playing. The feature will also allow you to request to join a game or request a broadcast of the game.

  • [Now Playing] will be added to What’s New, [Friends], [Community], and [Messages].

  • [Messages] will be improved and will allow you to view the [Now Playing] of others, start a party and add favorite groups to your favorites list.

  • You will be able to broadcast to YouTube.

  • You will be able to upload up to 10 second game clips to Twitter.

Share

  • [Live from PlayStation] will be improved, it will support broadcasts, as well as video clips and screenshots.

Settings

  • You will be able to change the speed of [Automatic Scroll Speed].

Miscellaneous

  • [Stamps] have been added to [Messages], allowing for more enjoyable communication with friends.

  • [PlayStation Plus] will be added to the main menu.

  • Blu-ray Disc/DVD player will support more accessibility features.

  • You will be able to create game restrictions based on age information and rating icon.
