Saints Row 4 probing you this August

Saints Row 4 has been announced, and Deep Silver Volition is throwing all sorts of what the f*ck your way in the latest installment of the former THQ franchise. The Saints Row franchise has made a name for itself with over-the-top gameplay and bizarre story elements; I'd argue this one may be the wildest of them all — and definitely strangest.

In Saints Row 4, the Third Street Saints have taken over the White House. But life as President of the United States takes a strange twist when an alien invasion occurs, transporting the Saints to a bizzaro-Steelport simulation filled with an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology. Weapons aside, it looks like you'll also have superpowers at your disposal as you take on the alien Zinyak in an effort to escape the simulation. I could tell you more, but you probably just want to watch the trailer.

Earlier this month, Deep Silver's Aubrey Norris teased something "huge" at PAX East. Although the company hasn't confirmed it, I'd bet this is that big something — a big purple dildo right in your face. No, no, surely Saints Row 4 will have something much more offensive up its ass.

Saints Row 4 is due out on current-gen consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3) as well as PC on August 20, 2013 in North America. It will be released in the rest of the world on August 23, 2013.
