Samuel L. Jackson thinks Mace Windu could still be alive according to a video recently posted on Twitter.
For anyone who managed to survive the infamous 'Star Wars' prequels, one of the main characters that fans the world over have agreed is one of the only acceptable elements of the movie series has to be Samuel L. Jackson's portrayal of the lavender lightsaber wielding, Mace Windu. The Jedi master seemingly met his demise after attempting to apprehend the evil Senator Palpatine upon discovering that he was the mysterious Darth Sidious the Jedi Council have been chasing.
During a recent IMDB Twitter Q&A, Jackson was asked:
"Who's idea was it to kill Mace Windu? Just curious. He's a great character."
His answer came in the form of a video response:
"As in most Star Wars movies, it was George Lucas' idea to kill Mace Windu. He said he killed all these important characters in all these other movies leading up to that, and he said the only person left to kill that would mean anything in 'Episode III' would be me. I was trying to figure out, 'Really? Can't you just, like, injure me or whatever?', but, in my mind, I'm not dead! [Jedi] can fall incredibly HIGH distances and not die."
According to Jackson, the possibility of Master Windu surviving the fall on Coruscant is entirely likely. After all, we never did see what became of him; all we saw was his ejection from the window. Considering the upcoming 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' will be featuring characters from Star Wars' past, including the return of Darth Vader, it may not be totally "out the window" that Jackson could return as Mace in a future project.
