With DOOM’s open multiplayer beta now live on all platforms, you can already get a taste of the prodigal shooter’s modern reincarnation. Alternately, you can relive the days of old through a mod that combines the Nintendo 64’s GoldenEye 007 with the original DOOM engine.
Modder “Demo_the_man” is hard at work on Goldeneye 007 tc, an updated version of a DOOM-ified GoldenEye 64. As Demo wrote on ModDB, the mod will make several additions to its predecessor, including “comic book style cutscenes,” improved level design, “more Bond one-liners” and updated tank models.
“So after about 12 hours of work, I have mostly completed the first level of the dam level, and it feels like the best job I have done with outdoor areas yet,” Demo said of the mod’s first gameplay footage (above).
You can monitor the mod’s progress and download its current build for yourself over on ModDB.
