Sega Extends Platinum Contract

It seems Sega is actually capable of making good decisions, as long as they don’t involve Sonic the Hedgehog. The Japanese publisher has announced that it will be extending the limited contract with Platinum Games beyond Vanquish, which was originally the final title in their four-game deal.

“We have a further title to announce from Platinum Games,” Sega of America vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard recently told Game Informer.

It’s unlikely that Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil and lead on Vanquish, will be involved in the new game as he is now working with Suda-51 on Shadows of the Damned, and his development startup Tango Gameworks was acquired by Bethesda in October.

Still, as long as it isn’t for the DS, we can probably expect another awesome action game with terrible cutscenes and that not enough people will buy. Kudos to Sega for supporting one of the industry’s more creative studios.
