Back in the summer when I reviewed Shadows of the Damned, I scored the game a great 8.5/10. Sure, it wasn't without a few flaws, but the overall product was just really badass. It was crass, gritty, stylish, and dirty-mouthed. It was great!
Unfortunately, the game didn't sell very well, which caused producer Suda51 to express disappointment in the dangers of releasing a brand new IP. It's tough for everyone when games don't produce high sales figures. The devs suffer from it, and the fans need to accept the fact that a new game they really liked may not get a sequel.
Thankfully, that may not be the case with Shadows of the Damned. Speaking to Eurogamer, famed composer for both Silent Hill and Shadows of the Damned Akira Yamaoka said that we may actually get a sequel to the dark yet comical action-adventure game. "I'm thinking of a sequel, actually," said Yamaoka. "I can't tell you here, but clearly I'd like to."
When asked if EA would be willing to fund Shadows of the Damned 2 after the poor commercial reception of the first game, the composer replied in a way that could only make fans get all jolly with joy: "Probably. Well, yes."
So there you have it, folks! We may get Shadows of the Damned 2 someday! Aarghh! Here's hoping!
