Shovel Knight: King of Cards DLC Coming Early 2018

Nintendo hosted a Nindies Showcase yesterday, promoting a number of upcoming indie games for the Nintendo Switch. We learned that Super Meat Boy is getting a sequel and that Shovel Knight is getting its third and final DLC.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards is the latest from the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, which is a season pass for Shovel Knight players. The game can be purchased without the season pass, however. The newest addition stars King Knight, one of Shovel Knight's foes, and features his rise to power.

How did he become King Knight? Four new worlds with 30 levels will hopefully tell the full story. Just like the rest of the DLC, King Knight has his own custom controls. He has a hammer and other heavy-handed attacks. There are even card battles, which are currently slim on details, but will no doubt be revealed shortly.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards will release in early 2018 on the Nintendo Switch as a timed exclusive. After which, it will release on all other platforms as well. The base game of Shovel Knight received phenomenal scores from many publications, including GameZone. The latest DLC, Specter of Torment, revolved around Specter Knight.
