Sigourney Weaver briefly dishes on her mysterious villainess role for the upcoming Netflix ensemble series, Marvel's The Defenders.
This year, Marvel Studios' run of Netflix superhero shows gave us the thrilling second season of 'Daredevil', as well as the newest hero on the block, 'Luke Cage'. With the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe relying so heavily on its build towards epic team-ups like the 'Avengers', they made no exception to the current Netflix division. Following next year's introduction of 'Iron Fist', the world will finally be graced with the street level brand of justice courtesy of 'The Defenders'.
At the recent New York Comic Con, it was revealed that veteran actress and sci-fi icon, Sigourney Weaver, would be a key player in the series as the villain. Specifically which villain, however, is still to be revealed. Ever since the announcement, the speculation game has been in full swing with theories and guesses to sift through for hours. In a recent interview with Variety, Weaver dished what little she could about her character:
I can’t say much, because they might kill me. I think everyone I work for might kill me if I tell you anything. But I have the most delicious character. She’s really smart, and she’s very in charge.
Her joke about the "Disney assassins" wasn't the first time we've heard it considering Jon Bernthal made a similar crack about his casting as The Punisher for 'Daredevil' season two. In any case, in order to avoid the happy little laser sights, its likely we won't get much more info until we get closer to the premiere. One thing is for sure: her villain has to be pretty terrible if it's gonna takes four superheroes to take her down!
