Skullgirls raises over $800K and secures 5 new characters

The highly successful campaign for Skullgirls has ended, and now fans of the fighting game will receive five new playable characters in the coming months.

In just a few days, the community increased funding on crowdfunding site Indiegogo from roughly $600,000 to just shy of $830,000. The contributions ensure a total of five additions to the roster, not three as previously thought.

Fan vote will decide the two mystery characters based on a selection of more than 30. The fourth downloadable-content character is Robo-Fortune. The other two confirmed characters include Squigly, who will debut in mid-July (around the time of the upcoming PC version), and Big Band.

Developer Lab Zero Games will let players beta test the new characters on Steam prior to release, and it will use the feedback to make any final adjustments. The characters will become available on all supported platforms, including PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Siliconera reports that Lab Zero will continue to accept donations by PayPal on the studio's website for the new two weeks.
