Skyrim on PC gets HD texture pack update via Steam

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC just got a heck of a lot prettier. Not that it wasn't pretty before, but a new Steam update to Skyrim's free HD Texture Pack has been released adding improved textures for expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and the recently released Dragonborn.

Bethesda warns to ensure your PC has the "horsepower" to support it before downloading. Also check that your system requirements exceed Skyrim's recommended specs before installing. Bethesda recommends your PC has the following:

  • Windows Vista/7
  • a minimum of 4GB of system RAM
  • a DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card

For those who already have the Skyrim texture pack, note that today's update is approximately 4.7GB in size. You can find the download here.
