Jailbreaking, the ability to have root access to a device beyond developer intentions, is now achievable on the Nintendo Switch. This means tweaks can be made to the Switch including changing the UI and really just about anything else that can be programmed onto it.
This jailbreaking was achieved by Luca Tudesco, someone already famous for jailbreaking iPhone and iPad devices.
Now before people start tolling the death bell for Nintendo (something people get way too excited to do all the time), this doesn't mean the Nintendo Switch has been blown wide open with access to free games and emulators. This just proves that jailbreaking is possible on the device. So far, there is no development on anything related to emulators, software or tweaks. The jailbreak isn't even released to the public yet.
Development on any sort of programs for a jailbreak could take months if a community even spawns from it. There's also a very reasonable chance that Nintendo could put an end to it before the jailbreak even becomes public.
