Sonic Boom to be adapted into comic book series

Publisher Archie Comics today announced a comic book adaptation of Sonic Boom, the Blue Blur’s upcoming action game.

As IGN reports, the series will be written by Ian Flynn and drawn by Evan Stanley. The comics will feature the entire Sonic gang in addition to our favorite hedgehog, with the story closely following that of Sonic Boom.

Comic editor Paul Kaminski clarified the setting of the series, saying it “takes place within a new branch of the Sonic Universe.” This new branch is a crossroads of various media including Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for Wii U and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for 3DS as well as the forthcoming Cartoon Network series.

“Well, of course Sonic is the star (I mean, his name’s in the title and stuff) and Knuckles, Amy and Tails are all key members of the core cast just like always,” he added. “Now, ‘Sticks’ is the newest addition to the crew, and we couldn’t wait to get her into the mix alongside these other staples of the Sonic world!

"It’s always such an exciting opportunity when Sega presents us with a new character to write and draw in the comics and Stick’s personality makes her a great addition to the core cast!”

The first issue of the comic will release this October and will feature four variant cover arts which form the image seen above.
