Sony admits they “sometimes” announce games too early

Sometimes...

PlayStation has been known to announce games years prior to the game releasing. For example, Sony announced Kingdom Hearts 3 back in 2013 and we still have no release date. Now, Sony is looking to learn what the appropriate window for announcing games is.

According to PlayStation Worldwide Studios SVP Michael Denny, Sony is  "learning", as are many publishers, that "there is a right time to announce games." Denny went on to say that they didn't want to repeat previous mistakes with Sucker Punch's upcoming game, Ghost of Tsushima, by talking about the game early on in the development process.

"In the past, I think it's fair to say sometimes we announced games too early. And this is such a great project for Sucker Punch. It's a game they've always really wanted to make themselves. And I think it's the right time to announce that, and they've been working on that game for a long time now. There is great [playable version of the game] already. So we're just excited to let everybody know about it."

Hopefully this means we will be getting new announcements along with a lot sooner of release dates!
