Sony allegedly working on Spider-Man spin-off movie for Morbius the Living Vampire

Another one is on the way.

Spider-Man: Homecoming released earlier this year to some pretty great reviews and an even better opening weekend. With the film being such a success it's no surprise that Sony is pumping out Spider-Man spin-offs like no tomorrow.

At the moment, there are two Spider-Man spin-offs in the works, Venom is currently filming and Silver & Black is set to release in 2019. According to Hollywood Reporter, there's one more spin-off in the works and it's about the Spider-Man antihero Morbius the Living Vampire.

It appears as though Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who worked on the recent Power Rangers movie, wrote the script for Morbius in a secret development process. The script has been submitted to Sony.

Morbius first appeared in Spider-Man's world in Amazing Spider-Man #101, the first Spider-Man comic not written by Stan Lee, the Spider-Man co-creator.

Dr. Michael Morbius, better known as Morbius, is a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself, which, of course, led to disaster. Instead of being cured, Morbius became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism. He had a thirst for blood, fangs and super strength and ended up fighting Spider-Man. He eventually became something of a hero figure after a change of motives (hence the antihero).

How Sony will portray Morbius in a film hasn't been revealed.
