Sony comments on Cross-Platform play following Microsoft’s invitation

Earlier this week the announcement of cross-platform online play became a reality to gamers thanks to Microsoft finally opening up a public invitation to all other consoles, starting with Rocket League.
This had many gamers excited as it as been a dream to play against or with other players on different consoles. As expected, Sony jumped in to comment on the subject of cross-platform play.
Speaking with GameSpot, the corporation said:
"PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002. We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross-platform play."
Now, Sony didn’t directly say that they plan on allowing cross-platform play with Microsoft, but rather a statement saying they are open to the idea.
Gamers could either take this as a 'Yes' or a 'No', but since Sony did say they are interested in talking with developers about cross-platform play, the odds of 'Yes' might be higher. We will just have to wait a little longer to find out.
If Sony decides to accept the open invitation from Microsoft, Rocket League will be the first game to feature cross-play between Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Windows 10.
