Sony confirms a Bloodborne expansion is coming

Sony's Shuhei Yoshida refers to new Bloodborne content as an expansion rather than DLC

Bloodborne has been stomping players ever since its release in March of 2015 with it Gothic / Lovecraftian-inspired monsters and beasts. Of course, since then, players have already ventured through Yharnam multiple times with multiple characters. Naturally, fans are eager to know whether FROMSoft will have new content for the game. Today, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios at Sony, confirmed… Yes, more death is on the way.

This is the tweet.

It's interesting to see an announcement only two months after the game's launch. It seems that everything is moving at a much quicker pace in Bloodborne than it was back when Dark Souls was first released. It took Dark Souls a year to get the Artorias expansion, and even various secrets in the base game were being found out after that was released.

I'm also glad Yoshida called it an expansion, when he clearly made mention that people have been asking about DLC. The word DLC has been somewhat tainted recently, with Witcher 3 developer, CD Projekt RED stating that they'd much rather use the word Expansion when talking about their upcoming content, since it not only just adds fluff to the game, but literally expands it. That hopefully means that Bloodborne will be getting a pretty sizeable expansion. Here's to hoping it matches the quality and intensity of Artorias of the Abyss for Dark Souls.
