Sony confirms over 100 games for PS Vita in 2013

Sony is making a big promise to PlayStation Vita owners and hopefuls this year.

Don Mesa, the director of product planning and platform software innovation at Sony, told IGN that more than 100 games will release for PlayStation Vita in 2013. That includes indie games like Hotline Miami and Thomas Was Alone — so they're not all "new" in the truest sense — and bigger titles, too.

We've certainly heard positive praise about Sony's welcoming stance from indie developers lately. Apparently players are happy, too.

“Our users are embracing the PlayStation Store on the device and finding it very easy to download and get their games on their device and start playing," he said.

Mesa also shared the results of a survey that Sony conducted with Vita gamers. The handheld has an 86 percent satisfaction rate among users, and 90 percent play on a "regular basis," or once a week or more. The average Vita owner uses the handheld for 18.7 hours — not necessarily for gaming, of course.

We'll have to wait and see if this line-up gives the Vita the big push it needs to stay in business or if Sony will be forced to give gamers the price cut they've been wanting.
