Sony confirms PS4 gameplay capture through HDMI, but not at launch

Gaming websites, blogs, livestreamers, and all of those in between can rest easy knowing that the PlayStation 4 will be able to capture gameplay through HDMI output. Sony confirmed the news today during the Tokyo Game Show and Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios, repeated it on Twitter.

"We announced today that PS4 users will be able to capture their gameplay through HDMI output in the future," he wrote. "We'll update you when ready."

Unfortunately, the "in the future" likely means gameplay capture won't be readily available at launch. Yoshida offered alternatives like streaming to Twitch or Ustream while they work on a solution. So the good news is that Sony is listening, but the bad news is we still don't know how long it will take to implement such a feature.
