Today SCE Santa Monica Studio announced its final plans for God of War: Ascension, which released for PlayStation 3 in March.
"As of today, we will not be producing any more [downloadable content] (maps, weapons, armors, marks) for God of War: Ascension multiplayer, as our primary team resources start to transition to other projects here at Sony Santa Monica," the developer's community strategist Aaron Kaufman wrote on the PlayStation Blog.
But most of the news is good: Ascension will be available as a digital title starting Oct. 15 in North America. Sony will offer special pricing options on all DLC following each regional digital release. Expect that to happen Oct. 22 here.
As a bonus, the official soundtrack will be a free download for everyone on PlayStation Network for a limited time. The developer also confirmed the return of double XP weekend from Oct. 18 through Oct. 22 worldwide.
SCE Santa Monica is planning to roll out a big balance update later this month, addressing gameplay feedback, adjusting Allegiances, and so on.
