Yesterday, Sony released a fairly lengthy 'Ultimate FAQ', dropping the major bomb that the PlayStation 4 will not support MP3 or DLNA.
The two features are already supported on the PS3 which could explain why gamers are raging over their removal. It's like taking a step backward. For those unfamiliar, DLNA allows the console to wirelessly communicate and share data with other DLNA enabled devices. Sharing pictures/movies from you DLNA enabled device would be quick and seamless.
The ability to play MP3 files — which I didn't think would be such a big deal (apparently neither did Sony) — seems to be causing the most fuss. With its removal, PS4 owners will have to rely on Sony's own online store and streaming service (Music Unlimited) for music and movies.
After receiving backlash over both decisions, Sony's Shuehi Yoshida finally issued a response to fans.
Thanks for the feedback to the lack of MP3 and DLNA support at the launch of PS4. I'll share with the PS4 Dev team for future consideration.

Whether or not "future consideration" means eventual DLNA and MP3 support remains to be seen, but at least they are listening. Let's hope it's with open minds.
