Sony has just announced a new headset for the PlayStation 4. The Platinum as they're calling it is a wireless headset capable of 7.1 virtual surround sound. It's built using Sony's proprietary 3D audio tech.
The Platinum is set to launch on January 12 at a price tag of $160. It comes with a noise-cancelling mic and works with the headset companion app. The 3D audio works the same as the PS VR games without the breakout box.
Games that take advantage of this new hardware include MLB The Show 17, Days Gone, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
