With the end of the year approaching, companies are reflecting back on the successes and failures of the year. While Sony has been do pretty well in sales with the PlayStation 4, they have not been doing very well when it comes to bringing games from their own studios to the console.
A majority of games that released on the PS4 in 2015 were not Sony developed, but developed through third-party partners and available across multiple platforms. Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has admitted that Sony didn't have much to offer in 2015.
“Games that have been released this year, from Destiny, Call of Duty, Star Wars — most of them we have a collaboration with for additional content if you play on PlayStation 4," said Ephraim to GameSpot. "So we’re pretty confident with the way Christmas is going. The demand is strong."
Ephraim went on to admit that Sony didn't have much to offer themselves in 2015, which is why they worked with partners to bring games to the console. "We have worked very closely with third parties this year because our first party lineup was not as a strong as we would have liked."
Next year will not be the same as 2015, according the Ephraim. "Next year, our first party lineup looks incredible," said Ephraim. "You’ve got Street Fighter, Uncharted 4, No Man’s Sky, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo. These are all exclusives, and two of them are new franchises."
