Upcoming free-to-play shooter Dust 514 looks to arrive on the PlayStation 3 as early as next month, according to Sony.
Appearing on FOX Business to discuss Sony's PS3 and PS Vita strategy, SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton may have accidently spilled the beans on Dust 514's release.
“We do have free-to-play games,” Tretton responded when asked about the free-to-play gaming market. “A game called Dust 514 is a full-blown first-person shooter available on PlayStation 3 that not only allows you to play against your friends on PS3, but also against people on the PC.”
To clarify a little, Dust 514 is a first-person shooter on the PS3 that has players carry out combat missions on the surface of planets from PC MMO EVE. Both games are directly connected with actions in one game affecting the political and economic status of the other.
Before the segment ended, Tretton added that it's "coming out next month."
Take that for what it's worth, but we'll be sure to keep a look out for official word from Sony about the pending release of Dust 514. Meanwhile, last month, Sony and CCP Games celebrating the launch of the Precursor update which, for the first time, integrated Dust 514 with EVE Online.
