Sony still working to get March’s PlayStation Plus lineup

Sony 'not quite ready' to make the announcement

Talk about waiting until the last possible minute. With March rapidly approaching — like tomorrow! — Sony has yet to announce the month's free lineup of games for PlayStation Plus members. Given that the free games are usually set to go live on the first Tuesday of the month, you can imagine why there's a bit of panic in the air.

On Thursday, PlayStation Europe Community manager Fred Dutton said the company is still "finalizing details" for March's lineup with hopes of announcing something as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like much has changed since then.

We still don't have the lineup of games, but Dutton did post a lengthier message on the PlayStation Blog updating fans on the status.

Sorry to keep you good folks waiting. I appreciate you’re all really keen to see the line-up and that it’s frustrating having to hang on a bit longer than usual. Alas, we’re still not quite ready to make the announcement. I can’t give you a firm time at present as to when the post will go live, but we’re working to get it to you as soon as possible. It may well be next week at this stage.

A lot of the impatience could also be stemming from the fact that Microsoft has already announced its lineup for March's Games With Gold — Microsoft's comparable promotion for which also offers free Xbox games every month. Next month, Xbox LIVE Gold member are getting BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, and Rayman Legends for free.

As for what's taking so long, well, we don't know for sure but Dutton did say there's "lots of moving parts, contracts to be signed etc. We do our best to get you the news as soon as we can."
