Sony: ‘We are working on’ PS Now subscription option

PlayStation Now senior director Jack Buser has reassured gamers that Sony is working on a subscription option for PlayStation Now, the company's new video game streaming service. The statement echoes that of which he made to IGN not long ago.

"In addition, we’ve heard you loud and clear for an update on a PS Now subscription option and want to reassure you that we are working on it," Buser said in a post on the PlayStation Blog. Today, PS Now enters open beta on PS4 giving gamers an option to rent games and stream them directly to their console for a period of time. Think of it like a digital Blockbuster.

"We think PS Now represents the next step toward the future of gaming and we’re excited to have the PlayStation Nation come along with us on the beginning of this journey," Buser continued.

Despite entering open beta, there are still plenty of questions surrounding PS Now including latency and, the biggest of all, pricing. Though Sony has already said that publishers determine the cost of renting a game, they've received the brunt of fan criticism. Can't blame anyone; you can rent Darksiders for 90 days on PS Now for $14.99, or buy it flat out on Amazon for $13 and own it forever.
