Soul Fjord is Kim Swift’s funky dungeon crawler, exclusively for the OUYA

Kim Swift (Portal, Quantum Conundrum) has lifted the curtain on the new OUYA-exclusive game she and the team at Airtight Games have been working on. Surprisingly, it's not a puzzle game! Soul Fjord is a randomly-generated dungeon crawler with rhythm-based combat. It's set in a fantasy universe where Norse mythology meets '70s funk and soul. This means lounge dragons and disco wizards.

In the game you play as Magnus Jones, a legendary Viking warrior who must fight his way into Valhalla, the hottest club in Yggdrasil, so that he may attend "the party that'll end the world."

"Magnus must fight his way up the World Tree to salvage his reputation as the baddest Viking in town, and gain access to Valhalla," explained Kellee Santiago, OUYA's head of developer relations. A brief trailer and developer diary was released in conjunction with the announcement.

Soul Fjord is currently listed as "coming soon," but will most likely be released around the time of the OUYA's retail launch in June. The android-based gaming console began shipping out to Kickstarter backers in March. Initial impressions here at GameZone are that the OUYA has potential, but still needs a few tweaks before its official launch.
