If you've ever wanted to experience what it would be like to experience Star Wars in an immersive virtual reality experience with VR, it's finally happening. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will be coming to Disneyland Resorts in Southern California and Orlando, Florida this holiday season, bringing just that.
Here's a brief description of the experience:
"Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will plunge guests directly into the iconic Star Wars galaxy. They will move freely throughout the untethered, social, and multi-sensory Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire experience in a way that allows them to interact and engage with friends, family and Star Wars characters. This ground-breaking experience will open to the public at two new VOID Experience Centers at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort beginning this holiday season."
Now, this description of the game sounds awesome, but it doesn't really detail how they will manage to make a game/experience like this.
The Void and ILMxLab are teaming up to make this experience a reality. The Void is a startup company that creates immersive VR experiences by creating an entire center that features aspects from the VR experience, including props, doors and more. ILMxLab is Lucasfilm's immersive entertainment division.
The two will be combining their powers to create the Star Wars game we always wanted.
