Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Double Agent go back compat on Xbox One

Splinter Cell is one of the most acclaimed stealth-action franchises in gaming but sadly, it has taken the backseat for the last five years. Following the well-received reception of Blacklist, Ubisoft put the franchise on hold in favor of focusing on Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and more.

Over the last year or so, there have been rumblings of a new Splinter Cell in the near future and it appears that Ubisoft may be gearing up for that. Today, Xbox One owners will have access to every Xbox 360 Splinter Cell game on their console with Blacklist and Double Agent joining the already available Conviction through backward compatibility.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent can be played through a digital copy or a disc but Blacklist is only playable through a disc as it’s not available through the Xbox store yet, no word if it’ll come later. Double Agent is priced at $19.99 on the Xbox One store and you can find it for $3 at GameStop and Blacklist for $10.

Following the events of Conviction, Blacklist sees Sam Fisher tracking a terrorist group known only as the Engineers. The Engineers are a politically charged group demanding the United States release their military control over the majority of the world or they will continue to devastate the U.S. and other key locations through a series of deadly attacks. In a race against the clock, Fisher must find a way to stop The Engineers and their “Blacklist” attacks before all hope is lost.

Double Agent follows Fisher in a more morally grey story where he must go undercover to infiltrate a terrorist organization. While it’s for the sake of millions of lives, Fisher is tested and pushed to uncomfortable places and asked to do terrible things to continue his mission and maintain his cover in order to save his country.
