Square Enix clarifies Final Fantasy 7 PC-to-PS4 port release date

Earlier today the PC port for Final Fantasy VII on PS4 release date had been set as October 16, according to the Square Enix website.  It turns, out that this date was untrue in a statement clarified by Square Enix and has since been changed back to the original release window of Winter 2015.

We can confirm that the published release date for this title is incorrect. As discussed at this year’s E3, Final Fantasy VII will be ported to the PlayStation 4 in Winter 2015.

Just to be clear, this is not the remake that Square Enix announced at the Sony Press Conference this year.  It is a port of the version available for purchase on Steam, featuring enhanced graphics, achievements, and a character booster.  This may not be the game that everyone has wanted for the last ten years, but it's a nice alternative for fans to dive into in the mean time.  In spite of this false alarm, Square Enix has confirmed that the price of the game will be $15.99.
