Square Enix promises to ‘finally release Final Fantasy 15 this year’

What happens if they don't deliver on their promise...?

Since 2006 we have been waiting for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game that ultimately became Final Fantasy XV. Square Enix is promising that Final Fantasy 15 will not meet the same fate that Versus 13 did – the game will release this year.

Taking to the official Square Enix site, Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy 15 vowed to complete and release the game in 2016.

"We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower.

I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft.

We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure."

Rumors began circulating in early December suggesting that Final Fantasy 15 will be released in Summer 2016. This rumor was founded in a questionnaire on the Square Enix website that asked users  ‘if Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV came out at the same time, which would you prefer?’ With Persona 5 seeing a Summer 2016 release, the questionnaire suggested that Final Fantasy 15 would share the same release window.
