Square Enix Plans for Another MMORPG Not Named Final Fantasy

Japanese blog Hachima Kiko reported that Square Enix, which currently runs Final Fantasy VII and the disappointing Final Fantasy XIV, wants to develop another MMORPG to go with both of their Final Fantasy installments. They are expected to announce the game some time during this fiscal year.

It’s a good move for Square Enix, which needs to a chance to recover after Final Fantasy XIV flopped. If they can capture the magic of Final Fantasy XI while making a game that is truly unique in a land of copycats, then the company could return to the top of MMORPG developers.
