Good news for gamers fighting it out in a galaxy far, far away. EA has announced that the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Multiplayer Beta has been extended for a few more days in a move that feels like was the plan all along. Players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One now have until Wednesday, October 11th, per the game's Twitter account.
Concern over Battlefront 2's microtransactions hasn't been assuaged by the hands-on time; if anything it's continued to grow. The game's Loot Crates are packed with more than mere cosmetic items, as they primarily featureĀ in-game credits, crafting items, and Star Cards. Star Cards directly affect the moment to moment action, as they function as added abilities and/or stat buffs. Using the crafting components unlocked in the Loot Crates can be used to enhance the Star Cards, and with loot crates purchasable with real-world money, there is a definite pay-to-win connection.
Obviously, the full ramifications of the system won't concrete until the game launches in full and has had enough time for players to dive in, but the concern is certainly warranted.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One next month on November 17th.
