Star Wars Battlefront reveal impresses us with PS4 footage

EA officially reveals Star Wars Battlefront gameplay

As promised, Electronic Arts has debuted the official reveal trailer for DICE's eagerly awaited Star Wars Battlefront. Although tons of details regarding the highly anticipated shooter have already been revealed, today's video finally shows us a glimpse of game engine footage.

As noted in the video, the trailer is comprised of actual game engine footage captured on the PlayStation 4; however, it's important to note that just because it's game engine footage doesn't mean this is exactly how the game will look when you're playing. A lot of what's happening, while totally freaking awesome, seems to be scripted to make for the most cinematic experience possible. While you can fully expect all of this action to take place in the game, don't expect the gameplay to have this much cinematic flair.

As for the contents of the trailer, well, it showed much of what we already learned earlier today. Star Wars Battlefront will primarily be set during the events from the original trilogy (Rebels vs Empire), save for pre-order DLC that'll allow players to experience the Battle of Jakku, the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Anyone who saw yesterday's trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will realize this is the same planet that part of the new film will take place on.

Star Wars Battlefront will also feature land vehicles (speeder bikes, snow speeders, AT-ATs) and space ships (TIE Fighters, X-wings, and even the MIllennium Falcon). Battles will take place on iconic planets, including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and the previously unexplored Sullust. And lastly. Memorable characters from the original trilogy such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett will also be playable.

Star Wars Battlefront is due out on November 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
