Star Wars Episodes 2 and 3 getting 3D releases in 2013

I'm picturing George Lucas singing "I want money, that's what I want," as he's playing with Star Wars figurines in his garage where he makes experimental films. Why do I picture him singing this? Because we're getting the 'bad' Star Wars trilogy in 3D. He doesn't want our love — he wants our money. And the sad thing is, a lot of people will go see this in post-production 3D. Episode I: The Phantom Menace was already re-released in 3D a while back. The final two films of the prequel trilogy will be coming to theaters in 2013.

Episode II: Attack of the Clones will release in 3D on September 20, 2013, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith will open in 3D on October 11, 2013. It's not a lot of time between the two, which I find odd, but it gets the prequel trilogy out of the way so we can get to Episode IV: A New Hope through Episode VI: Return of the Jedi sooner. I'm most excited for The Empire Strikes Back, just like every other Star Wars fan out there.

How much money can we expect Episode II and III to make in 3D? Well, The Phantom Menace is the least-liked of the prequel trilogy, and that mustered up $44 million at the box office. It's fair to say that the next two will muster up at least that much, considering they're both better and have scenes that'll be better in 3D.

What episode are you most looking forward to in 3D?
