Star Wars: Squadrons won’t get any new content according to EA

Never say never though

Sad news for Star Wars fans, as Electronic Arts confirms that Star Wars: Squadrons will not receive any more content. The news comes via an interview between UploadVR and the Creative Director of the game, Ian Frazier.

When asked about future plans of supporting Squadrons, Frazer was very open that the game is finished as is. Meaning, Electronic Arts never intended it as a live service game to begin with.

It’s a bittersweet realization many Star Wars fans are realizing now. Players were fantasizing about new scenarios, as Star Wars: Squadrons is a surprisingly great flight-sim. There really werent many set in the vast universe of Star Wars for a long time.

Add on top, that the game’s Virtual Reality implementation and feature set turned out to be one of its biggest strengths, and you have a bunch of teary eyed gamers with their sticks in their hands.

Now, we have to put a disclaimer that while Frazier was candid that his company has no immediate plans to work on additional content for Squadrons, he did preface it with a “Never say never”. So, maybe there is a chance.

To be honest, expectations for Star Wars: Squadrons weren’t that high to begin with. And it looks like this sentiment went for the publisher, too. Planned as a budget title and a one-off from the get-go, apparently nobody really believed it would become such a hit.

Even if this is all Squadrons will remain as, at least there is a good chance that folks at Electronic Arts are going to give the sequel a green light. Not only that but make it bigger and better on all fronts. For the time being, enjoy Squadrons to its fullest.
