Star Wars: The Force Awakens director working on live-action adaptation of Your Name

It was a pretty good movie.

One of the most successful anime movies of all time is getting a live-action adaptation, and it's coming from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director. Originally directed by Makoto Shinkai and produced by Toho pictures, the anime film 'Your Name' has brought in $355.3 million at the worldwide box office, beating the previous anime movie box office record holder, Spirited Away, by around $66 million.

JJ Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, is behind a number of stellar movies (like The Force Awakens, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Star Trek) and now, they are going to be working on the live-action adaption of Your Name.

Acting as a producer, JJ Abrams and Lindsey Weber will be overseeing the adaptation from the Bad Robot side with the anime's original producer, Genki Kawamura. Oscar winner Eric Heisserer will be adapting the screenplay.

In other JJ Abrams news, the director will be returning to the Star Wars franchise for Episode IX.
