One day, we may see a StarCraft: Ghost, but as of right now, no one is working on it. The stealth-action, third-person shooter hybrid console game was announced in 2002, but continuously delayed and eventually shelved by Blizzard, never to be seen or heard of again.
The idea that players could control a Ghost, a sort of psychic super-spy named Nova, and have access to a number of weapons and abilities seen in the popular RTS StarCraft was really intriguing. It sounded too good to be true…because it probably is. With StarCraft: Ghost protagonist Nova making an appearance in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, however, maybe Blizzard is having second thoughts about the game, and possibly thinking of bringing it back in development?
"There are no plans," Browder told Kotaku. "I'm not saying we won't ever, but I'll tell you what I do know: There are no meetings going on. There is no team. No one talks about doing it."
All hope isn't lost, though. Browder did suggest that we could see StarCraft: Ghost in the future, but that it's "just as likely" that we'll see a Lost Vikings 3 "or whatever".
"It doesn't mean that in two years from now, we won't have those meetings, the team won't be formed, but there is literally nothing happening around that game right now that would indicate that there's any likelihood that it will happen."
""We are super huge fans of consoles. We love console gaming as players," Browder said. "I wasn't really party to [the decision to put Ghost on hold] but I know it was a difficult decision," he added.
It's too late Browder. You've already broken my heart.
