Valve's new streaming service, Steam Broadcasting, is now live on the Steam client. I was really hoping they'd change the name to Steam Stream, but that didn't happen. Though, the Steam Broadcasting page still says 'beta,' it is no longer opt-in. In fact, in the Community tab, the Broadcast option lets you watch public stream in the Steam client or a browser.
Steam Broadcasting is a brand-new way to share your gameplay with the Steam community, but without the hassle of running third-party programs and applications. And there's really no setup necessary. It's easy peasy lemon squeezy.
When the beta launched a month ago, our Editor-in-Chief Michael Splechta wrote, "As far as we could tell, the broadcast itself is in great quality, assuming your settings are set on high. The stream itself seems to be delayed by at lest 10 seconds, which is somewhat standard for streaming sites. Not to mention, the Steam Client itself is the one hosting the stream."
