The calendar has officially flipped, and although it may not feel like it, 2016 is officially behind us. Everyone is putting out their "Best Games of 2016" material (including us!) in some form or another, and the popular digital PC games distributor, Steam has released a rather intuitive looking list of their 100 best selling games of 2016. Most notable here is the presence of the much-maligned No Man's Sky.
Steam's list categorizes the games based on how well they sold, so for example, Platinum is the best, followed by Gold, Silver, and Bronze in descending order. As you can see from the image above, the Platinum sellers consist of primarily the usual suspects, except of course for No Man's Sky.
By now you know the story. No Man's Sky was hyped beyond imagination before red flags began popping up ahead of release. And then when it finally did the gaming world burned as the game wasn't what it was cracked up to be, while PC players got the shaft in the form of a poorly optimized PC port. But to fair, PC players usually get screwed on PC ports anyway, so that's nothing new. What followed were mass refunds, epic and unhealthy levels of internet hate, and an investigation for false advertising (which they were later cleared of).
Other notable sellers further on down the list include ARK: Survival Evolved, Stardew Valley, and H1Z1. For the full list, head over here.
