Ever since Oculus and Microsoft announced their partnership, people were left wondering exactly what some of the perks would be. An Xbox One controller is included in every box and the system works natively with Windows 10, but those aren't really perks. Well, yesterday Microsoft announced the Xbox One streaming feature for consoles.
Beginning on December 12th, you will be able to stream every, single Xbox One game and backward compatible game from your console to your Rift headset. Three custom backgrounds will be used and your game will be superimposed inside of them. This means games like Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 and even indie games like OXENFREE and Inside will work. Hey, if you want to see what Uno looks like in VR, go ahead. Why not, right?
The new Xbox One Streaming to Oculus Rift app connects to your Xbox One via your home network. Once connected, your console’s video output is streamed to your Rift headset and projected onto a massive screen in your choice of one of three immersive VR environments: “Citadel,” “Retreat” and “Dome.”
