Suda51 has been “thinking” about making a Killer is Dead sequel

Gochi "Suda51" Suda is currently hard at work on a new No More Heroes game for Nintendo Switch, but that doesn't mean the famed game developer isn't looking to the future at what he might do next. Suda51 spoke with Game Reactor during Tokyo Game Show 2017 and said that while it would be difficult to go back to revisit any of his past franchises, that Killer is Dead is one that he has been "thinking" about for a while.

"It would be relatively difficult for a lot of the titles. Mainly because as Grasshopper we simply don't own the rights to some of these IPs, so it's not really our decision to say we're going to bring this title back. But there are definitely some that if possible, I'd like to go back to," he said.

Suda51 continued:

"For example, Killer is Dead. It's one that I've been thinking for a while that if possible I'd like to make a sequel for it. Although, again nothing at all concrete yet, it's something I've been thinking about. And hopefully, I'll be able to talk more about that in the future."

Killer is Dead initially launched for PS3 and Xbox 360 back in August of 2013 and was designed as something of a spiritual successor to No More Heroes. The game featured the same patented cel-shaded art style with bloody and over the top action. The game didn't end up scoring all that well, averaging a total Metascore of 64 on both consoles. The official GameZone Review scored the game a 5 out of 10, citing "a game with no real direction."

The game later got a Nightmare Edition on PC in 2014, whose reception has been a bit better from both fans and critics alike. So if you're curious, your best bet is grabbing the game on Steam for $19.99.

With nothing official in the works on Killer is Dead, we'll just have to wait for the Nintendo Switch's No More Heroes.
