Suicide Squad wasn’t a very mainstream band of characters until the 2016 film. After its huge success, the Squad has an insanely large reach and WB instantly greenlit a new game. While it has reportedly cycled through developers, Rocksteady is now at the helm and given us a glimpse at us. Behold, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League!
The trailer showcases Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang ripping apart some enemies in Metropolis before realizing their true target: an evil Superman. And yes, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a continuation of the Arkham universe! The trailer promises a pretty comedic tone and teases some interesting gameplay possibilities. That said, you won’t get to play it until 2022.
You can play the game with 1 – 4 players but if you play solo, you can switch between characters on the fly a la Grand Theft Auto V’s character switching.
Rocksteady was the team behind the Batman Arkham trilogy and they’ve been heads down on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League since 2015. While the studio has often been seen as a top-tier developer that gave us the best Batman games to date, Rocksteady has been under fire for toxic workplace culture.
Recently, an extensive number of allegations directed at Rocksteady came out stating there was a majority of the women at the studio experienced forms of sexual harassment. It was reported Rocksteady didn’t take the allegations seriously but the studio responded and stated that they have been working to resolve and improve the culture of the studio over the last two years.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release on Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC in 2022.
