Super Luigi U also releasing as packaged standalone at retail

The Super Luigi U DLC announced for New Super Mario Bros. U is no longer a digital download-only game. Nintendo today confirmed a packaged standalone will also be available at retail, though it will arrive a month after the digital version.

The digital download version will release through the eShop on June 20 for $19.99, while the retail packaged version won't arrive until August 25 in North America. The physical retail  version does carry a heftier price tag at $29.99, but you won't need a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U to play the packaged standalone.

Nintendo also revealed that Niabbit, a character you chased in the first game, will be a playable character in Super Luigi U's multiplayer.
